Love is a desire to fulfill some biological and social needs, according to your description, and people are shallow because they are immature and they think material needs or money is more important than emotions or understanding. You can earn as much as you want to – but nothing will buy you, love. You can’t ‘buy’ someone who can understand you and someone on whose shoulder you can cry on freely without thinking that she or he will judge you for anything!
“Love is not a temporary feeling or emotion. Emotions and feelings change, sometimes daily. But true unconditional love is everlasting.”Sandeep Maheshwari
It is a natural ‘hunger’ that we all have. First, we get it from our parents, siblings, family, then we get it from a partner, his family, then finally we have our children to give out, and receive love from. There are always phases in life where you might be successful, or face a failure, or simply be sad – but you never ‘stop’ asking for love. It is something that even a stray-dog understands when you feed him twice or thrice – he will protect your house, and look out for you when you are not around, and when you come back – he will be as happy to see you as your own family member!
Some people are even worse than stray dogs, who don’t understand the value of love and affection. They leave their partners for things like money, financial status, physical appearance and some are as cheap as an Indian man who divorced his wife for having ‘pimples’ on her face, back in 2008 – IMAGINE!

So – instead of complaining and demanding love from people who don’t value it – find someone who thinks like you, who knows the value of love more than anything else, and who loves you back as much as you love him! 🙂
